Muscat, 30 June 2026 – Oman launched the OpenPeppol Testbed on 26 June 2026 for its Peppol-based e-invoicing programme. Pre-approved Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) can now begin mandatory interoperability and connectivity testing. The launch of the Oman Peppol e-invoicing testbed marks a further step in the global expansion of the Peppol network beyond Europe.
What is the OpenPeppol Testbed?
The OpenPeppol Testbed is a standardised testing environment that allows Peppol Service Providers and software vendors to validate their technical implementations before going live on the Peppol network. Through the testbed, ASPs can demonstrate that their systems are correctly configured for message exchange, document validation and network connectivity in accordance with Peppol specifications.
The launch of the testbed is a standard step in building a national Peppol ecosystem. It indicates that Oman’s technical infrastructure is operational and that certified service providers can begin onboarding.
Peppol beyond Europe: a growing trend
Oman is not the first non-European country to adopt the Peppol framework. Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and several others have already adopted Peppol as the basis for their national e-invoicing standard. The adoption of Peppol as an international network — through the PINT (Peppol International Invoice) model — is making cross-border e-invoicing progressively simpler.
For Peppol Service Providers operating internationally, the Omani launch is relevant: businesses sending or receiving invoices from Omani trading partners will eventually need a Peppol Service Provider with Oman coverage. Relevance for the Dutch and Belgian market
The direct operational impact for Dutch and Belgian businesses is limited: Oman is not a primary B2B invoicing partner for most NL/BE companies. The Oman launch does, however, illustrate a broader development: Peppol is growing into a truly global network. Businesses with international operations have a good reason to select a Peppol Service Provider with demonstrable international coverage — not just European.
